| The
Dorset and East Devon coast is one of the most significant earth
science sites in the world, displaying a remarkable combination of
internationally renowned features. A 95 mile stretch of coastline from Purbeck to East Devon has
been designated a World Heritage Site.
The East Devon coastline is geologically the most ancient
part of the Jurassic Coast.
It is a famous venue for fossil hunters throughout the ages, and today important fossils are still found, particularly in the area around Lyme Regis. |
